Who We Are

Artie Craftie is situated in the beautiful World Heritage town of Blaenavon, Torfaen, South Wales where we offer a range of arts and craft materials to suit all ages and capabilities.

We have been honoured with National awards from the English and Welsh Governments and the Post Office.

Nick and Wendy Horler made a pact once married they would make a lifestyle move from Somerset to South Wales its part of the world that is treasured by both of them.
Blaenavon has been a place that over years has brought a fond sense of community
spirit for Nick, and recently Wendy, like it, was for Nicks ancestors who migrated
during the early 19th Century from Somerset to work within the Mines and Iron
industry of Blaenavon and South Wales.

Artie Craftie is situated close to St Peters Church where we have found that several Horlers have been laid to rest.

Nicks background is full of creativity been brought up within a family Hotel in Weston super Mare then going to sea to see the world spending many years onboard  the QE2 as a Baker Confectioner. Moving on in numerous directions within Catering trade in all levels, Technical Sales and later in working as a Trainer  Assessor helping the younger generation move forward within their career paths gaining qualifications. Over the years Nick has spent many hours of fun creating,  crafting, and photography and for the past 20 years as been using his camera to capture images on a professional basis for personal clients and corporate companies alike.

Wendy's background is, as the daughter of a Watch and Clock repairer and Jeweller based in Taunton, she spent time working with her Father and Mother helping with  the family business. After leaving school Wendy went to her local college and gained a secretarial qualification and started work with the Local Authority, was a Housing  Officer working for a Housing Association within the community. In Wendys free time over the years, she has enjoyed knitting, cross-stitch, dress making, guiding  and working with youth groups.

When we are not working we both enjoy many activities that include wide-open spaces, fresh air and wind. We like the extreme side of life and enjoy kite buggying  and blokarting and on the quieter days, we like good company and interesting food.
Our aims are simple to be an active part of the community within Blaenavon in both  work and play and to keep crafters near and far active with ideas within their chosen craft projects

We offer a range of photographic services, plus a framing service, we are a one stop shop when it comes to printing and photocopy needs.

Artie Craftie is very proud to say that we are the main Post Office for Blaenavon where we offer a full range of Postal Services and Banking services.
